About

Welcome to my blog. I am Pastor Dan Pool and I live in Clinton, Iowa, five blocks from the Mississippi River. I serve as Pastor of St. John Lutheran Church (LCMS). Books are my thing, lately on Kindle. My favorite authors include St. Augustine, St. John Chrysostom, Martin Luther, Soren Kierkegaard, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and Michael Horton. Theology is not for the timid. Tea is better than coffee, especially chai tea. I run, sometimes aimlessly. I have a beautiful wife and two teenagers. My blog exists for my congregation to have access to my sermons and devotional thoughts. But all are welcome.

‎”And what of myself: where was I as I sought You? You were straight ahead of me, but I had roamed away from myself and could not find myself, let alone You!” - St. Augustine.
